Alus Sēta (Beer Garden or Beer House in Latvian) is a small version of the internationally famous Latvian restaurant Lido (check the Lido article). Alus Sēta is located in Old Town on Tirgonu street. Whenever I have some job in Old Town or am simply meeting friends, I often come here to have a quick lunch or to have a beer with my colleagues and friends.
The food here is homemade and it is of good quality, especially the meat products. I highly recommend you order the chicken shashlik, a French-style carbonade with boiled-fried potatoes. Don’t forget to order some side salad, because all of them are great here.
I must admit that this place became more expensive in the last period of time, while food quality is pretty the same.
Regarding the drinks, Lido has its own brewery, so its produced beer is traded here along with other local and foreign brands. Although if I am driving or simply want some non-alcoholic drink, I order Kvas, which is good in both summer and winter.
