In the very centre of Riga, located only a couple of blocks away from one another, two lovely tea houses await their customers. They are tea-sipping, slow-time havens, a getaway for dreamers and tea lovers that offer a decent choice of various teas and a cosy ambience. These tea houses have what it takes also for coffee junkies to be beguiled. Located in near proximity, within two blocks of Kr. Barona street (the one with the tram tracks) both two-storey tea houses are open all year round. However, I love to visit them seasonally.
In summer and early September, I adore visiting the one located in Park Vērmanes, right at the middle entrance to the park from Elizabetes street. In summer, they open a chillout terrace where you can stretch your legs and read a book while sipping tea of your choice surrounded by a lively green park. It is sublime and definitely my favourite of the two.
In winter, however, it is much nicer to sit in the other tea house – a round bungalow situated on 2A Kr. Barona street overlooking the city canal – also a painful sight for sore eyes, be it winter or summer, spring or fall. The beauty of this one is the seating on the second floor – set for romantics willing to cuddle in in the warmth and cosiness and watching big snow-flakes slowly falling on the street, trees and the frozen canal.
