Valmiermuiža is a brewery near Valmiera. A town in Vidzeme, Latvia if you want to look it up on the map. At one point owners of the brewery decided to open a decent restaurant in Riga.
There are two premises next to each other. On the left hand you will find the restaurant I described above and on the right hand there is the shop (works daily 10:00 – 22:00). Lots of locally produced delicacies like cranberry or quince saccades or deer meat sausages or beer flavored ice cream are for sale in this shop, as well as the many kinds of beers.
The restaurant offers fantastic food. The menu is elegant, fitted to season and local ingredients are used as much as possible. Most of the recipes contains beer as an ingredient and they do beer pairing for each particular dish.
This would be my first suggestion to anyone who would like to try local food and to taste a variety of Valmiermuižas beers or locally produced “brandavas” – homemade liquors. This spot has never let me down quality- and hospitality-wise so I have to believe you should be satisfied as well. Especially knowing that I am quite picky about my meals. Labu apetīti!
