When I got to know that a video game museum was about to open in Riga, I was sure I’d find myself there showing no mercy to teenage boys in Mortal Kombat all day long. It wasn’t really quite what I expected. On the first floor there is Enjoy the Game, the video game store, and the museum’s located on the second.
The museum consists not only of exposed video consoles created over the decades, including the Soviet era, but also many different game stations and arcades, where you can destroy the universe or moonwalk with Michael Jackson, or simply try to figure out the rules of the game you have never played before and lose constantly. I had no idea many of those consoles and games even existed. My attention was completely captivated.
If Magnavox, Atari, Nintendo or Sega were your childhood’s best friends you haven’t met in a while, this is a place for this nostalgic reunion. I don’t even have time to describe more — just come and let’s enjoy the game together!
