There is a widely spread stereotype that Old Town is not the right place for experiencing a local’s lifestyle. When it comes to Kuuka Kafe (you certainly may skip the ‘Kafe’ part), I might disagree. Located right between some of the most popular tourist attractions, Kuuka appears as a traditional ‘around-the-corner’ coffee shop, still managing to keep its quality and appreciation from locals.
Apart from locally well known brunches and freshly baked bread, there is one main thing I recognize Kuuka for and that is chicory. Although, a seemingly unclear association, the explanation for this is quite trivial – Kuuka is one of the few places in town serving a quality chicory coffee. Although, for those who tend to limit their caffeine intake that may be more of an advantage, for me it’s the simple pleasure of switching up the usual ‘cappuccino’ or soy ‘latte’ for a not that ordinary flavour.
Kuuka is like a breath of fresh air for everyone strolling by the paved streets of Old Town, wishing for a quiet moment of happiness right in the middle of the rush. Either you choose a 5 minute coffee break or a 3 hour brunch on Saturday morning, it is a decision done right.
