When we talk about cocktails and good long talks with friends then Mākonis (Cloud) is the first place that comes to mind. With a neat list of cocktails made from selected spirits and homemade syrups the evening can’t fail.
Once located in Old town it has now moved to another historical place – a nice two-story building, built back in the year 1880 to serve as a horse post.
No horses to be seen nowadays here but one will find a restaurant with a modern interior and a good menu. Drinks and food have always been prepared at their best in Mākonis. Its staff tries to make the place attractive with various efforts, like, I remember this cold and super snowy day in Riga, when they gave free coffee to every grounds keeper who would like to have one. Not to forget – they serve locally roasted coffee.
For those who like to have breakfast outside their home this spot will be useful as well. Breakfast is served from 08:00 and on weekends don’t miss the waffle brunch.
Clouds come and go in so many shapes and sizes and I am happy that this particular one is forming exactly the way I like my restaurants/coffee places to take shape. It seems like Mākonis will stay one of my favorite places to have a cup of coffee or a cocktail no matter the season.
