If you are a graffiti artist, perhaps you look for local graffiti art in the streets of any city you visit. You know other artists, you know the culture, and perhaps you know that every city has some special, notorious or famous area, wall or even a whole neighborhood where graffiti is celebrated as an art.
You have probably heard of the graffiti artist KIWIE – he is Latvian, and his drawings can be seen all around Riga.
On Tallinas street, there is a local graffiti and streetwear shop that sells spray paints and all things graffiti, and behind that shop there is a backyard – just like the skaters shop backyard skate-park in the TV series Breaking Bad. It is ever-evolving, and it is the one place you would want to go for a concise mega-dose explosion of colour splashes squeezed in 100 sq. meters — the work of local and guest graffiti artists.
The shop owner, as one might guess, is very friendly and open to communicate, and through him, you might learn more about the Latvian street art and graffiti culture.
UPDATE: The spray shop has moved to another address, yet the grafitti yard remains in the address indicated. The shop can further on be found on the way there – at Aleksandra Čaka street 117/1.
