Do you remember “A Fish Called Wanda”, that funny movie with John Cleese, Jamie Lee Curtis and Kevin Kline? Maybe some of you are too young to remember it, but you’ll easily understand where this spot got its name from!
Actually, this fishmonger’s shop is much older than the movie (the owners says this is one of the oldest in Rome), but I discovered it just few weeks ago. While wandering with a friend and looking for somewhere to have dinner, I saw a couple of tables in front of this fishmongery, so I asked if, maybe, they would serve some food and… surprise! They serve a very tasty “AperiFish”: you can have a glass of wine, or prosecco, and a mixed seafood dish for € 10; if you’re then still hungry, you can add a fried seafood dish for an additional € 5!
Ever since, either for lunch or dinner, I Love Wanda has become one of my favorite places. They also gave me their business card, the first time I went there, announcing that they mostly prepare seafood for anniversaries and special events (so if you want to eat their food at home… no worries: just call them, order your favorite dish, and go get it when it’s ready!). Of course you can also buy fresh fish here to cook yourself!
A very familiar atmosphere, and great spot if you’re staying around the Pigneto area: easy to reach with trams number 5 and 14, or Metro C (Teano station).
