Anyone who has visited the Netherlands even for a few hours has probably noticed how passionate the Dutch are about cycling, both as a means for their everyday commute and as a sport. Cycling is not a hip trend in the Netherlands, it is a way of life that is very suitable for the Dutch landscape (and yes, eco-friendly). However, more than often a tire gets flat, or the brakes will stop working. There is no time to lose — the bicycle needs fixing. It comes as no surprise that Coppi, this place that combines coffee, repairing bicycles and a small shop would be more than successful here! So, while we wait for our bicycles to be fixed, let’s have a coffee.
Coppi was recommended to me by a Dutch friend who is a racing bike fanatic. The cafe occupies the corner of the high-ceiling space, while in the back there is a shop with bicycle gear and the workshop where bicycles are repaired, not at all hidden from the customers who enjoy their latte while reading a magazine or working on their laptop unobstructed. It is a quiet space, popular among young people, students or entrepreneurs, ideal for lazy Saturday mornings but also brunch during a weekday. The menu is simple, but there are tasty and healthy choices for breakfast or lunch.
Important detail; the concept of this bicycle cafe is also reflected in the decoration, with used black tires and bicycle-wheel-chandeliers.
