A while ago a lovely family in Santiago de Chile introduced me to a sandwich called ‘choripan’. A spicy sausage prepared on a smoky barbecue served on a crispy bun. I was hooked just by the smell of it. After crossing the border to Argentina it only got better – more barbecues, more smoke and more meat.
Now you might wonder what this piece of storytelling has to do with Grillig. A lot. Grillig is a restaurant located at the Nieuwe Binnenweg, a street already loaded with cool spots. Grillig serves a variety of different sandwiches filled with different kinds of meat all straight from the barbecue, which is located in the middle of the restaurant. Choose from fish/meat or veggie, a type of sandwich and add some sauces and toppings. Now sit down and admire the chef doing his job. In no time you will be looking at a delicious sandwich filled with good stuff accompanied with some homemade fries. Not into a sandwich? They now also serve complete meals.
Grillig has a good atmosphere, friendly staff and tasty food. Recently The Esquire also listed them as one of the new spots in Rotterdam you have to visit.
Head into what a good friend likes to call, the real part of Rotterdam but don’t get distracted by the OQ located around the corner, go straight to Grillig. Safe the OQ for later.
