Well hidden during the day, more visible in the evening; a piece of poetry in the light by Ester Naomi Perquin, city poet of Rotterdam in 2011 & 2012. The reason why I have missed this poem many times is because it is not visible during the day. Thanks to colored light, the poem comes to life as soon as the streetlights are turned on.
The poem can be found underneath the train station Rotterdam Noord, easily accessible on foot or by bike. On of the pillars keeping the station where it should be, you can find a mix of words in a few different colors. Once the streetlights turn on, the blue, purple and yellow lights directed at the poem are turned on as well. The colors switch every few seconds and light up different parts of the poem – a challenge for you to read, interpret and discover the poem over and over again.
Up to you to find the complete poem.
The summer is coming up, the temperatures are rising. Get on your bike and on to the north.
