Not that long ago the Schieblock building was scheduled to be torn down to the ground in order to create a new fancy hot spot. According to some politicians it’s still better to replace it for a brand new hot spot with shiny hotels and luxurious apartments. Luckily the local government is not very decisive and the success of the Schieblock doesn’t make it any easier for them. The Schieblock took control back into their own hands and rapidly developed the place to a spot full of creative entrepreneurs and nice bars!
What to visit in the Schieblock — not the most easy choice in life. Visit them all when possible, if not then I recommend you to at least visit Op Het Dak (Translated: ‘On the Roof’), a small lunchroom with a great view, good food (try the ‘Brekkie’) and nice staff. It’s a nice spot to have breakfast, lunch or to have a drink at the end of the day. Take a comfortable seat in the sun (when possible of course) and enjoy the good life.
The menu changes according to the season and to what can be harvested from their rooftop garden.
