Not that long ago a friend of mine returned from a trip through Asia and fell back into the daily routine the next day. Work, work and some more work. Luckily you still have the pictures. After a week of being back in civilization the trip seems to have been decades ago. Longing back to all the experiences in Asia, the lovely smiling people, the chaotic mess called traffic and, last but not least, the food, my friend started searching for a piece of Asia in Rotterdam. Of course I was curious about the result of the hunt. Close to the Markthal, Rotterdams new world famous building, you can dream about Japan at Hinoki (check article: Hinoki). More up north in Blijdorp you can experience some Indonesian traditions at Toko Toorop. Now, with Japan and Indonesia covered it’s time for Vietnamese at Pho Hanoi, the best pho in town.
When you enter Pho Hanoi a very friendly little Asian women welcomes you into her restaurant. Because of her wonderful Asian accent you can hardly understand what she’s saying but by making use of some hand gestures you can manage just fine. While waiting for your food and sipping your Vietnamese juice you can already experience the smell of spicy food coming up from downstairs where the kitchen is located. Personally I love the pho bo, just as they served it in Vietnam for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Go there and try out the delicious food.
