‘Hoogkwartier‘ – Rotterdam’s neighbourhood around the second stretch of Hoogstraat, from Mariniersweg to Oostplein is becoming more and more lively. Round&Round is a place I instantly fell in love with! A large playfully designed mural in black and white, opposite a counter full of delicious Japanese cake rolls, makes it very inviting and attractive.
Round & Round’s owners Bing & Chao are two talkative Chinese expats, passionate about Macha and Japanese cake rolls. They create their own recipes and try to give their cakes a soft texture with natural flavours. All cakes are low in sugar and fat. For me the perfect marriage is with a strong Matcha Latte!
“Look cute and taste good” is their motto and it’s true. Their cakes will put you in a good mood, just like walking round and round in a little forest. You can wander around and find a nice place to sit (inside or outside), some arty stuff to buy and good stuff to eat and drink. Occasionally they host creative events.
If you want to learn about Macha, just talk to Bing and Chao, read their lovely illustrated new menu or do a tasting.
Go here for good coffee, organic tea, Macha latte, sweets and more.
Leave a tip, their money box is hilarious!
