Under the arches of the monumental Hofbogen, the old train viaduct that now accommodates a variety of creative enterprises, you will find the new Zomersbloemen, a shop where one can explore and buy extraordinary plant and flower compositions. Their motto “change is good” is written on the glass facade and refers to their recent moving from a small space in the centre of Rotterdam.
The staff are constantly on the move: there is someone who pours coffee, and someone creates a composition with dry plants and candles. In between, colourful flowers inside monumental vases and cacti and seem to have found their place. The music is on, it feels like a plant atelier, or a bar with positive vibes. And how can someone not feel good when surrounded by beautiful plants in an incredibly well-designed interior?
Zomersbloemen is clearly a statement that redefines the character of the flower shop. I would call it a mini botanical garden which I visit to get my flowers for the house or buy presents for friends. They also offer services related to interior design with plants for special occasions, such as Christmas. At Zomersbloemen they seem convinced that flowers and plants add colour to our lives, and I could not agree more.
