Spikizi is a brand-new cocktail bar just off the Witte de Withstraat in the centre of Rotterdam. If you like to go out the Witte de Withstraat is your go-to street as it is filled with bars, restaurants and even some clubs, but it can get a bit crowded sometimes, in which case Spikizi is a great hide-out. It is a tiny, very cosy place full of nice people, nice plants and nice cocktails!
Of course Spikizi refers to way back in the day when bars were prohibited in the U.S. and people were forced to drink alcohol in secret, they did so in secret bars where the owners asked the customers to please speak easy so they wouldn’t get caught.
Nowadays you can happily talk as much as you want, and enjoy great music at Spikizi, usually mellow tunes like hip hop and R&B from the nineties, just the kind of music I like! The cocktail menu is extensive, and I am extremely happy that they serve a ‘sour’ with a drink of choice, in my case an amaretto sour, my all-time favourite cocktail 🙂
Spikizi is a great place to be all night, and if all the drinking got you hungry the night-Chinese Hung-Kee is only a few steps away.
