I love plants. I probably inherited this from my mother, she once had no less than eighty plants! I’m not there yet, and my boyfriend thinks our house is green enough as it is. This makes it risky for me to go to Stek. Going there without buying something is almost impossible for me. Luckily for me, I like to spread the plant fever, so whenever it’s someone’s birthday I buy them a plant! This gives me plenty of reason to visit Stek every once in a while, yay!
Stek is a plant lovers dream. The small shop has two floors completely full of indoor plants, and a garden at the back for the outdoor plants. They also sell a lot of plant-related items like unique ceramics and other pots, plant waterers, seeds, books and soil. The staff is super friendly, helpful and they know everything there is to know about which plants are best for sun, or for shade, and about (sustainable) gardening in general. I really like that they often have special plants that you won’t find in a regular garden centre, like lithops, also known as living stones — so strange but so nice, and so hard to keep alive, unfortunately.
My favourite part of the store is a small corner where they keep the plants that are a bit sad and need extra attention. For a small price you can take them home and give them enough love to let them flourish again!
