You will find Sunset Cafe in just off one of my favourite streets in Rotterdam, only five minutes away from where I live, at De Nieuwemarkt. In this street, new restaurants and shops keep emerging, and for some reason they blend in perfectly with all that was already there, resulting in a diverse street where no matter what you feel like eating or drinking, you will probably find it here (check articles Gamasot, Tante Nel, Deligriek,Bokaal, and Boguette, to name only a few). When I walk through this street, especially when everyone is sitting outside enjoying their food and the sun, it feels like holiday.
Sunset Café is the perfect example of a place that seems to have been here a bit longer. The dark wood interior, neon sign, bartenders in their white shirts and black ties all breathe a traditional authentic charm. I love sitting inside at the bar in wintertime just as much as sitting on the terrace in the summer. No matter if you are sitting in- or outside, two things are certain: you always end up chatting with the regulars, and you always go home (much) later than expected.
