What if I told you that you can go on a trip around the world for free? That the whole trip would take just a couple of hours, and you don’t even have to leave Rotterdam for it? Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, welcome to the Wereldmuseum. And yes, it is free – since the Wereldmuseum is currently being rebuilt, admission is FREE!
I am a rather seasoned traveler. When I want to re-live my travels, or get the travel bug, the Wereldmuseum, suitably housed in the former Royal Yachting Club, is where I go for a quick taste of what the world has to offer. My favorite stop here is the Tibetan temple, where prayers and bells sound and smoke billows from the incense sticks. I just have to close my eyes and I’m instantly tele-transported to a mountain stupa.
Unfortunately, dining at the Michelin-star restaurant of the Werledmuseum is no longer an option – the restaurant was deemed not fitting with the concept.Luckily, the Lunchroom is still available and offers a great river view and serves some of the best coffee in town.
