In a city like Saint Petersburg it isn’t hard at all to find new and interesting places to try, just walking a little bit is enough to find some bar or cafe that catches my eye. That is how my wife and I found Bakalavriat bar. It was just weeks ago, while wandering through Mayakovskaya street on a rainy evening after work.
There, near Nevsky avenue, a formal little black sign over a glass door indicated the entrance. Behind the door, a narrow staircase of red bricks surrounded by books and posters already showed the special environment of the Bakalavriat. Upstairs, a coffee shop and a bar, invited us to try pastries and cocktails with suggestive names in the menu such as “Heavenly Cheesecake” which we had to try, of course.
We also noticed a projector, and searching through the social media of the bar we found that it does cultural meetings and screenings, so now it has become part of our schedule. Meanwhile, we are keeping our eyes open to what new places appear!
