“Bonch” is short for the Bonch-Bruevich University of Telecommunications in Saint Petersburg located nearby (in case you wondered). Practically, it’s part of the King Pong family (the next door Pan-Asian restaurant which I adore and also frequent). But it’s really separate and a unique one.
Here, you can see youngster crowds (mostly students) chatting, drawing, making plans, taking selfies and so on. Bonch has 2 rooms, the one in the front is where you can catch the daylight, and there’s another in the back, where the lights are dimmed and it’s more evening-y.
I personally love coffee so I come for my 1 or 2 daily cups of filtered. But if I’m hungry, I may also get a snack or a sandwich. There are comfy plastic Eames chairs around, and it’s nice to read a paper book watching the crowds moving around and people minding their own business.
It’s not a quiet spot but, instead, it’s lively. There are several communal tables for larger groups.
