I’m not often on this side of Nevsky.
Locals call this side of Nevsky (the Nevsky Avenue from Vosstaniya square towards Alexander Nevsky Lavra) “The old Nevsky”, Staronevsky in Russian.
It’s a place with posh brand stores and luxury living quarters. I’m not often here.
But when I am, I know where I can grab a bite and rest my feet. I know a quiet place where I write in my paper journal, order draft cider and feel myself in a city pocket with no need to hurry up.
I’ve never seen a crowd here, even during peak hours, though I enjoy both the quality of food and the prices. I like the small street which Grey’s faces, it looks so not central though there is Nevsky just in five minutes walking distance.
Try “The Baltic sushi” starter (salted herring with boiled potatoes, pickled onions, oyster sauce) and sip your draft cider just like I do. Or come to get brunch (look up the menu here).
