Petersburg is not as rich in parks and greens as many European cities. All the reason why every green corner in the city is more valuable.
Lopukhinsky garden is not as big as Tauride garden or Summer garden and usually is not overcrowded. It is far enough away from the metro stations and there are not many residential buildings nearby.
The park has its own special charm. I love the little bridge and the thick willow branches that go down to the water. The most picturesque places in the park are near the water. There is a descent to a small creek inside the park and the riverbank with wooden benches near the water. I usually take a thermos with tea and a snack and come here to sit and bask in the sun. On weekends, I come here to run. People practicing yoga are often seen on the lawns.
There are many birds in the park. Ducks are swimming in the pond inside the park, gulls are begging for food on the river bank.
Since the 18th century, there have always been either a park, or a summer house, or a garden. The trees in the garden are quite old and tall. The last reconstruction took place recently, in 2015, and the garden looks well-groomed and neat.
Lopukhinsky garden is open around the clock, so you can go there any time.
