Maestrello is a recently opened eatery offering simple food, whether you’re on the go or want to sit and relax. It is located just off the junction of Nevsky and Liteiny Prospekts – right in the centre, but also easy to miss.
Bright yellow signs advertise Italian street food, and the staff wear bright yellow t-shirts to match. The interior is stylish and modern, with clean, new furniture.
Basically the offering is what you might expect from anywhere else offering Italian food – pasta and pizza. The difference is that the pizzas are delicious – the base is light, airy and fluffy. There are a range of different interesting toppings to choose from if you so wish, and everything is prepared in front of you in the open plan kitchen.
My favourite is the simple margarita pizza, with a bit of added chilli to add some spice. An ideal pit-stop in the city centre.
