Sevkabel port is a creative space that was opened on the grounds of the Sevkabel factory. Vasilievsky Island was originally a port and industrial territory. Today, there still operates the passenger port Marine Facade and several factories. Saint Petersburg’s administration has plans to move it out of the city boundaries.
The management of Sevkabel factory decided to make changes gradually. The factory will be turned to a large creative space with a long promenade in some years. A small part is open today: a piece of the promenade, a skate park, two exhibition hangars, buildings with offices and cafes. Some of the buildings are of historical value and have been restored carefully.
The space of Sevkabel port reflects the spirit of the city: industrial and historical at the same time, with a modern style, on the shores of the Gulf of Finland.
What can you do at Sevkabel port? Fairs and festivals take place there on weekends. You can buy some farm products, vintage dress or vinyl records. Announcements of events that take place on Sevkabel port grounds are regularly published on the website, e.g. the Night of Museums and Stereoleto.
Have a snack at one of the local cafes or food trucks, grab a cup with something warm or cool and hang on the waterfront. At sunset, the view is just magical! Be sure to climb the small wooden lighthouse – both children and adults are delighted by it.
