Shlyapa (The hat) is a small second-hand shop in Saint Petersburg that was recently opened by stylist Elena Vertiy. She finds interesting clothes and accessories at flea markets and selects the best for her shop. The prices there aren’t low, but the choice of things is much more interesting than at a regular second-hand. You can see what is on the hangers on your own. or ask Elena to pick something for you. I recommend you take advantage of the opportunity and get a little free stylist consultation.
The second-hand runs on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from 16:00 to 21:00. To enter, call through the intercom to number 33 and take the elevator to the 6th floor.
Be sure to go back down from the stairs! First, it will be a small spiral staircase, and then you will find yourself in the spacious hall of an old house of the early 20th century. This is the same house with a huge mosaic on its facade I’ve written about in another article. This house is notable for the fact that there are still communal apartments here! You can see several doorbells with signed names of residents at each door (it’s atypical for Russia nowadays). Look closely, examine the stucco molding, an old stove and wooden doors. This house seems to have frozen in time.
The intercom won’t let you get into this house and just look, but as a customer of the second-hand shop you can easily go there.
