I walked near Verlé Garden every week for at least a year. And I didn’t even know it existed! So if you follow my advice, chances are you’ll find yourself in a quiet corner with good coffee or tea — and you might never stumble upon this place on your own.
It’s not usual for restaurant and cafe owners to place a coffee/tea spot inside a huge grey building on the side of the Nizami garden: it’s destined to be rare, small, quiet, local.
When I sip my V60 Ethiopian coffee, I witness dog owners drop by to get a takeaway (Nizami garden is one of the rare green spots to walk dogs on Petrogradskaya storona). There are students writing notes and some chitchatting couples. Someone reads a book (that might have been me!).
There are some snacks like granola or smørrebrød in the menu (see the full menu on the website). You can also buy some ground coffee to take home — or a cup to take some drink away, too.
