Arlequin Cafe – Hayes Valley hot spot

I recently found myself wandering around Hayes Valley in search of a place to have lunch when I spotted the Arlequin Cafe. What a terrific place with a tasty menu, a full wine shop and best of all a great patio at the back of the restaurant.

The food was decent value for the price. I was attempting to eat healthy that day, so my lunch partner and I split the vegetarian California sandwich consisting of roasted red pepper hummus, avocado, pea shoots, spicy Napa cabbage, sun-dried tomato jam and pickled shallots on a whole wheat roll. Do those ingredients scream California or what? We also enjoyed the roasted beet and apple salad with goat cheese, slivered almonds and aged balsamic.

If that all sounds too fancy for your pallet, don’t fret as the menu is extensive and there is bound to be something for everyone with a menu consisting of breakfast burritos to fresh baked pastries.

Be sure to make your way to the back patio and enjoy their hidden garden in the middle of the bustling neighborhood in the midst of the big city. Enjoy this spot for breakfast, lunch, dinner.
