Best San Francisco Blogs 2021 – Selected by Locals!

We asked our own San Francisco bloggers about their favorite independent San Francisco blogs & websites. Here’s a list of their tips in alphabetical order.

9to5.chic

Anh Sundstrom shares her life between San Francisco and Tiburon, California. 9to5.chic is her way of expressing her own personal style, both at work and on her days off. Her style is neither outlandish nor high couture; she puts together mostly neutral outfits that are often simplistic at first glance, but never dull. The fact that her looks are an inspiration to many is indisputable, as she was named one of San Francisco’s most stylish women. However, besides fashion, you will also find more personal aspects of her life on her blog, such as her heritage and family.

A Passion and A Passport

A Passion and a Passport is a blog run by Jessica, who seeks to teach others how to make the most of their travels. You will find lots of useful resources here, like tips on planning your trips, packing, and finding the best cheap flights! Even though she’s been all over the world, San Francisco Bay Area (where she has lived for a while now) remains her favorite place in the entire world. As such, she has plenty of great articles pertaining to San Francisco and its surroundings, such as 125+ things to do in San Francisco, where to eat, and the most Instagrammable places!

A Side of Sweet

Run by San Francisco-based Kelly, A Side of Sweet is a lifestyle blog where you will find interesting stories about her own life as well as tips on San Francisco. As a self-proclaimed ‘total foodie’, she shares plenty of recipes as well as reviews of restaurants she visits, among others. For a more complete experience though, you should definitely consider following her colorful Instagram page, where she frequently posts about everything she loves in San Francisco, such as her favorite summer spots and this lovely winery.

Broke-Ass Stuart

Launched in 2007, Broke-Ass Stuart is one of the best websites to find important news and articles on art & culture in the San Francisco Bay Area. Above everything else, Stuart is very genuine. The team seeks to promote diverse voices, and they do not avoid political subjects that others would find controversial. Here, you will find information on topics such as housing, labor, and activism… but also nice tips on Netflix shows to watch and where to drink the best beer!

SFist

The least ‘indie’ of the bunch, but not one we could bring ourselves to omit. SFist is the go-to blog for any recent news and developments in San Francisco Bay Area. They publish multiple articles every day, covering categories that range from news and politics to food and entertainment. This is definitely a blog you should keep an eye on if you want to stay up to date with what’s happening in San Francisco; whether places are closing down or opening up, or specific events are taking place, you will learn of it here!

Whimsy Soul

Whimsy Soul is a blog that Kara launched as a hobby soon after she moved from Wisconsin to San Francisco. However, it soon expanded in scope, along with her team. Nowadays, they publish articles on a variety of topics, from lifestyle and beauty to recipes and witchy things/astrology. Though this blog isn’t specifically about San Francisco alone, Kara often writes fun articles about things to do and see in and around San Francisco (like unique date ideas and how to go kayaking in San Francisco). You can also follow her Instagram page to see what she’s been up to!]

SF Station

SF Station

SF Station has been a San Francisco institute since 1996. They have a huge archive filled with wonderful tips about the city. They write about everything including restaurants, clubs, the arts, and exciting events events happening in the city. It’s a very big resource to go through, but if you’re willing to do the work you will find some really great tips for your trip!
