Cafe Franco San Francisco

Cafe Franco – A hidden gem with a view

Nestled on top of the hill at Fort Mason and tucked away inside the Youth Hostel you’ll find the warm & inviting Cafe Franco.

This charming cafe is a portal to a place time forgot. Overlooking the magnificent San Francisco Bay, Cafe Franco is open to hostellers and locals alike. I enjoy stopping in for my morning coffee while on walks to the Golden Gate Bridge.

Selling a small menu of sandwiches, salads and an assortment of baked goods, I think the cafe is a perfect spot to enjoy a hot beverage and toasted bagel or perhaps an afternoon snack. The super friendly staff uses fresh ingredients and organic beans to make an affordable cup of coffee, cappuccino or latte. Local craft beers and wine are also available. Fun events like comedy nights also take place.

Doing everything a good cafe should do, Cafe Franco stands alone with its appealing atmosphere. With expansive 18-foot windows, the cafe sits, surrounded by trees, perched high above the SF Bay. The old world charm of the place transports me back in time to provide an unparalleled respite from the hustle and bustle of the noisy city.

Look for the Hostel building at the top of the hill between Aquatic Park and the Fort Mason building complex below. Either climb the rear stairs to go through the back door, or enter the front doors and wind your way to the Cafe Franco to enjoy a friendly crew, excellent food, and an unforgettable view.
