Giordano Bros. – Fun & cheap eats in the Mission

Did you know that San Francisco has more restaurants per capita than any other city in the U.S.? It’s often said that it would take a person two years to eat at every dining establishment in town. Of course, few people have the time, budget or belly for such an undertaking.

But that doesn’t keep me from trying! I’m always on the lookout for fun and affordable dining options.

What’s the deal with the sandwiches? They’re packed with a meat option, oil & vinegar slaw and french fries piled high between two slices of fluffy white bread. The combo works particularly well when it’s washed down with one of their local brews. It’s an idea that originated on the east coast in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Hence, the Steelers football memorabilia lining the walls. Go early on game days because the place is small and fills up with rabid fans. I find it entertaining to watch loyal football fanatics experience the agony of defeat or the thrill of victory.
