I think Off the Grid’s Presidio Picnic is one of the best spots in San Francisco to eat and enjoy some sunshine. I used to live in the Presidio and can tell you that the views are beautiful with the Golden Gate Bridge to your left, the Palace of Fine Arts to your right, and the bay straight ahead. The Presidio Picnic is held every Sunday from March to October and over 30 different food trucks come together in the Main Parade grounds, a big grassy area in front of the Walt Disney Museum.
I personally love Del Popolo’s wood-fired pizzas, grilled cheese sandwiches from the Grilled Cheeze Guy, and ice cream from Bi-Rite Creamery but there are always so many cuisines to choose from including Korean, Mexican, Indian, and American barbecue. It’s also nice that the prices are fairly inexpensive as well so you can sample a few things in one day. I recommend getting to the picnic early when it starts at 11:00 so that you can claim a spot on the grass and avoid long lines and if it’s sunny outside make sure to bring an umbrella or a hat as there isn’t any shade on the Main Parade, only lots of good food! If you can’t make it on Sundays, be sure to check Off the Grid’s website for a schedule of events that happen every week.
