Olivier’s Butchery is definitely off the beaten path– it’s a storefront along a street of warehouses that you probably wouldn’t find unless someone told you about it, or you wandered in after looking for parking (which is how I found Olivier’s).
What an amazing find. They sell a selection of sauces and olive oils, most of which are local, but the meats are worth writing home about. They’re clearly fresh, all sourced from local farms (some even raised by Olivier himself!), and the flavors are amazing, with high-quality cuts and sausages that contain fresh herbs.
They offer “fresh meat boxes” for pickup if you want to order ahead. These are usually good for 2 meals for 2 or for four people. It’s hard to recommend a single cut of meat– it depends on your preference or what you’re looking for, but I was really impressed by the sausage. The one I remember most was a Provence-style, and the freshness of the herbs in the sausage was outstanding.
You’ll need an Airbnb with a grill if you’re from out of town to fully appreciate what Olivier’s has to offer, but if you have a grill, it’s worth stopping in while you’re in the neighborhood- maybe even going out of your way if you’re hoping for a gourmand, local meal on your patio or balcony. I guarantee your meal will eclipse anything you can find at a steakhouse.
