As the ultimate tea freak, I’m always on the lookout for an amazing place to get a cup of tea. Since the coffee craze has hit San Francisco hard, I’ve been feeling left out of the fad. However, while strolling down Valencia street in the Mission, I smelled the most delicious scent of Chai in the air and followed my nose as it led me to one of my favorite tea cafes in the city, Samovar Tea Lounge.

They are constantly brewing giant pots of Chai tea, and they make it hot and cold year-round (you know, just in case you want hot during the SF summer or cold during our winters). They sell it loose-leaf as well, so you can buy your own to make at home. It is truly the best Chai I’ve ever had, and their recipe lives up to the stuff they make in the store.

If you ever need a break from coffee, I highly recommend Samovar. They make delicious scones and pastries, and the atmosphere in the cafe is bright and comfortable. They don’t offer WiFi or tables, so it is truly just a place to come and sit and talk with a friend while enjoying a cup of tea. They also make and sell their own handle-less mugs, which they serve their teas in while in-store. There are three locations in the city, each with its own different vibe, yet all offering the same delicious teas.
