The Ice Cream Bar – Old-fashioned ice cream

Whenever I go out to dinner with my friends in the Cole Valley neighborhood, we almost never order dessert at the restaurant because we know we’re going to The Ice Cream Bar nearby. This is the place for ice cream lovers like me. The Ice Cream Bar takes you back to the 1930s in its decor and menu. They serve ice cream sundaes, ice cream sandwiches, and ice cream cakes with flavors like coconut and butterscotch but they are really known for their boozy fountain drinks made with a variety of tinctures and syrups like Valrhona chocolate syrup or turbinado syrup and black cardamom or juniper tinctures.

I also love their sodas and floats with ice cream and milkshakes all of which use acid phosphate or lactart to give the drinks a sweet or tart flavor.  All of the flavors and combinations are so inventive and if you are really hungry The Ice Cream Bar also serves savory dishes like grilled cheese sandwiches, pulled pork sandwiches, and tuna melts. I love coming hear to indulge my sweet tooth and enjoy the old-fashioned ambiance.
