There are so many donut places to try in San Francisco and Twisted Donuts offers something a little different.
The little shop located in the Outer Sunset is owned by a husband and wife who have years of experience in donuts! During the week, they like to offer the traditional donut flavors like bear claws, maple old fashioned, and chocolate old fashioned, but on the weekends they like to serve donuts with a twist hence the name Twisted Donuts. If you visit the shop on Saturday and Sunday, you can choose from a more unusual menu with donuts like S’mores Galore, Maple Bacon, Pumpkin Fritter or a Maple Pecan Buttermilk Bar which I tried and loved.
Since it’s located in a quiet part of the city, I never have to wait in line, and it’s a good place to go after I hike up the nearby 16th Avenue Tiled Steps or if my friends and I want to take away some donuts for our drive across the Golden Gate Bridge. I’ll make any excuse though to visit Twisted Donuts. Be sure to check their Instagram or Facebook pages as they update their weekend menus every week!
