It’s amazing how easily you can be thrown off of your feet in Sarajevo. Almost every street has a mysterious place that whispers its own story… And let me tell you, those are small streets. Old town is a very special area of the city. But during Ramadan it becomes even more magical. There is a warm cloud of peaceful spirit circling around it. People are calm and it is really nice to be around there.
The special place that I’m talking about is Miris Dunja near Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque and, in English, it is called “The Scent of Quinces”. It makes a lot of sense since quinces are one of Bosnia’s traditional symbols. The place is very small, colorful and people there are very nice! The soundtrack is also beautiful since they always play special cover music from the old times.
You can order Bosnian coffee and you’ll get it beautifully and traditionally served together with Bosnian “lokum” — very tasty candy. It is always nice to be there, but for me, the most beautiful is during Ramadan, after iftar. Come and feel the beautiful spirit of the evenings in Sarajevo. 🙂
