Pita (pie, pastry filled with cheese, spinach or potatoes) and burek (filled with meat) is something very normal in Sarajevo. Places where one can eat it (called: buregdzinica) are almost everywhere and everybody has their own favourite buregdzinica or two.

I also have a few places that I prefer and ”Sadikovic buregdzinica” is top-notch. I found it by recommendation. Most of the ‘buregdzinica’s in the city offer great pita with awful interiors, which is the reason I eat and quickly leave. But this place is so inviting: modern, chic unlike any other similar place. I was really surprised by the ambience and simple décor. It’s located near the Clinical center and a few faculties like Medicine, Dental medicine and it’s up the hill. Maybe it’s not on the way of your tourist path, but it’s worth it. 

Every time I go there during my lunch break, I really don’t know what to order first – I’d like to have it all. Besides the regular burek and pita with spinach and cheese, they have tasty pita with mozzarella, mushrooms and chicken and also healthier version of cheese pie – buckwheat pie. I love these versions, traditional pita with a modern twist. They also have a cute little terrace outside with a sunny side in the morning which makes it a wonderful place to take the time off and have a delicious brunch.
