This music venue is located in the basement of another music venue called Neumos. If Neumos represents the older sibling, then Barboza is the hip yet angsty younger brother. You won’t find any windows in Barboza, but I’d make the argument that windows in a music venue aren’t a good thing. It makes it easier to get lost in the music.
Barboza is an intimate spot that hosts the perfect range of local DJs and traveling artists trying to work their way up to a venue like Neumos. The tiny stage and narrow viewing area provides the perfect ambiance for bands trying to make an impression. If you don’t like getting up close and personal, there are comfortable booths towards the back of the venue where you can still soak in the crunchy sounds.
This is where you want to be if you want to catch an act before they break into the big time. Next thing you know you’ll be watching them at Neumos and reminiscing about the time you saw them at Barboza, before they got big.
