El Diablo Coffee Co. – Cuban coffee in Queen Anne

Seattle is notorious for its many great independent coffee shops. Atop Queen Anne hill north of downtown Seattle and the Seattle Centre, I recently came across yet another excellent example: El Diablo Coffee Co. El Diablo has been a fixture in the Queen Anne neighborhood for 15+ years, providing a gathering place for locals and visitors alike, serving thoughtfully crafted Cuban-themed coffee and espresso drinks, delicious pastries and seasonal dishes.
Besides the usual array of espresso drinks, you’ll find delightful options like the Mexican Chocolate Mocha with Ibarra chocolate and steamed milk, or try the watermelon cooler, a refreshing summer special-blend of frozen watermelon and coconut water. Their food reflects the same dedication to local and seasonal fare and features a full-course menu that includes breakfast, lunch, and snacks with sandwiches like the Vegan Quesadilla with roasted green and red peppers, zucchini, squash, serrano vegan mayo, and vegan cheese, or try the Cuban Pork Empanada – a luscious array of roasted pork, cilantro aioli, and caramelized onions. If you’re in the mood for something sweet, I can really recommend their signature coconut bread, a delicious, sweet, moist, slice of tropical goodness that comes both in a regular and a gluten-free version.
El Diablo Coffee is a great place to have an informal meeting or to hang out with your bestie for an hour or two, it has plenty of seating and working space inside and a great patio outside for those lovely Seattle sunny days.
