Hardwick’s has been family-owned since 1932, serving many of the shipbuilders and do-it-yourselfers in the area. With few ships currently being built, Hardwick’s still has a fine selection of sharp implements, woodworking, and other unique tools. Wander the aisles, and you’ll discover tools you never knew existed. You get the idea this place looks very much the same as it has for the last 80+ years. Of course, then you’ll find their wide selection of power tools, and realize they’re simply being prudent.
A good tool makes a job easy. Some hand tools have never been made into powered versions, and thus the winding aisles of Hardwick’s hold many useful treasures. Larger than it looks, I’d recommend wandering the store for a while, even after availing yourself of help from their knowledgeable staff. A good hardware store can provide an answer you hadn’t thought of, and Hardwick’s certainly offers a look into some very unique solutions.
