Saigon Vietnam Deli is one of those places with cheap banh mi sandwiches, bubble tea, and homemade items without labels. If you aren’t Vietnamese, hopefully you’re adventurous, because in this part of the International District, called “Little Saigon”, you’ll find all sorts of Vietnamese stores… but you may need a translator.
At Saigon Vietnam Deli the hot food and sandwiches are good and cheap, and you’ll probably find a way to order something delicious. They have hot food a la carte, with fried rice, meats and veggies. The two item lunch combos are an absolute deal. If you want something simple, order a banh mi sandwich, meat or tofu on french bread. Simple and spicy, you can’t go wrong!
I like to challenge myself and pick out something I’ve never tried before, sometimes opalescent or gelatinous, and mostly tasty… if inscrutable. This is the kind of place that feels like it’s run by a family, where grandmothers order in Vietnamese and you get a lot for your money.
