Something about the word “butcher” just gets my mouth watering. I sincerely apologize to any vegan or vegetarian who may be reading this. I don’t know what it is, but when I hear it, my ears perk up. Maybe I just romanticize the idea of saying I went to “my butcher” like someone might reference a hairdresser.
If you’re like me and the idea of going to a butcher shop gets you excited, then The Swinery is a place you must check out in West Seattle. There are two routes you can go when visiting the Swinery. One is having them cook up something on their grill out back. I highly recommend the Swinery’s take on a Cubano, which perfectly combines their in house pulled pork and smoked ham. The second option is eyeing up what’s on their deli shelves and taking something to your own grill. Either way, you’re a winner. They roast up a new pig every week!
Maybe you want fresh sausages. Maybe you want smoked meats. Maybe you want everything. If you ever find yourself daydreaming about the word “butcher’ while in Seattle, you now know where to go. For those dining in, make sure you grab a spot on their patio which perfectly puts you in smelling distance of their grill.
