AKSC is the newest cultural factory in Skopje. Envisioned as a focal point for action, a place to perform and a space to be creative, the center could easily take the lead in the city’s alternative cultural community.
In October 2013, a group of young activists, artists and other enthusiasts decided to establish an autonomous cultural zone, serving as a support mechanism for all initiatives for a freer, more creative and more humane society. Film screenings, poetry readings, public debates, exhibitions, art performances and workshops are just some of the activities planned for the beginning. The most interesting thing about the center is the solidarity clause. Not only that it’s built with an enormous wish and a great amount of energy, but its establishment is helped by everyone who wishes to contribute in any way possible.
Art from local artists hangs on the walls, some music in the background and a sense of positive resistance wandering around. We truly hope it will turn into one of the liveliest cultural, artistic, social and intellectual urban areas in Skopje.
