Wednesday night is time for party for students in Skopje, and the reason is simple; they don’t have to work on Thursday morning. 🙂 So if you are on a vacation in Skopje and it’s Wednesday, you don’t have many options for nightlife, so the student parties can be your new experience…
The party stars at 00:00 and usually till 01:00 it’s almost empty, but after 1:15 or 1:30 it is almost full. Unfortunately the good music is only until 1:30, afterwards it’s karaoke and only Yugoslavian (meaning ex-Yugoslavian countries Serbian/Croatian…) songs.
You will not understand a word if you are not from the region, but people tend to be happy and cheerful and very, very drunk. Usually, when I go to these parties (once or twice per year) I have to be drunk as well, because I don’t like this music, but on the upside, the girls are hot and sometimes we need to make a small sacrifice.
I don’t highly recommend these student karaoke parties, but it is a nice once-in-a-lifetime experience.
During the closed disco season, from October till the end of May, these parties are in Avenue, which is just 600 meters from the City Square–just a 5 min walk–and the drinks are quite normally priced: one local beer is 120 dinars (2 euros).
