Two activities ranking high on my list of favorite things in life is 1) sitting in my living room with best friends and 2) having a wonderful plate of food placed in front of me. I love my living room just as much as the next person, but in all honesty, it very rarely contains both best friends as well as four creative cooks whipping up a festive feast of the best sandwiches you’ll ever eat at the same time. This is why I’m very happy that I have found my new living room-away-from-home in Stockholm: Scandwich.
The menu is composed of (yes, you guessed it) big sandwiches as well as the occasional meat dish. Scandwich offeres different sandwiches from month to month, but you’ll always find a vegan or meat option. The produce is seasonal and always freshly prepared, with clear Scandinavian flavor references combined with world cuisine.
How about treating yourself to a Blastpesto Max Super Ultra Veg 2021 Deluxe 11: rye bread topped with summer cale, cheese mayo, cucumber, watermelon, butter-basted carrots, pesto and pickled radicchio? Or if you’re more of a deep-fry kinda person, why not go for the sticky chili glazed fried chicken with a side order of french fries and homemade vegan bearnaise sause? Either way, you won’t be disappointed.
The atmosphere is cozy and homey, with quirky ceiling lights, miss-matched chairs and vintage tables. Scandwich also hosts music quizzes two Tuesday’s a month so if that’s your jam, make sure to check them out.
