Babulja opened up earlier this year and is a nice addition to the Russian restaurants ones already in town. As most of the other places are quite frankly for tourists, and locals do not go there because of the pricing and you-know-what, this one is different.
The owners run several other popular places in the nightlife area, so they know what locals like and how to reach their target audience. So this place is full of locals having a good time, nice ladies showing off and people who stop in for a drink.
There is a bar and fast food place on the first floor, the restaurant on the second and a roof-top bar, which will open up again next year. The place is roomy and full of corners to hide in or spend time at.
The food is delicious and filling as the Russian cuisine usually is. The best thing about Babulja – the cafe that is a part of the restaurant opens up very early, like 07:30. There are not many places in Tallinn where one can have breakfast and that is why I like the place. I would suggest the restaurant upstairs. It has a wide array of meat dishes from Russia and other Slavic countries.
