Here is something for the lovers of classical music, ballet and theatre. Well known and world famous shows are playing here every season – “Flying Dutchman” by Wagner and “Fiddler on the Roof”, Tchaikovsky’s “Sleeping Beauty”, Verdi’s opera “La Traviata” and so on.
The Jugend-style building itself is beautiful and situated in the very heart of Tallinn, in the central park, in the triangle of three shopping centres. I usually try to see the biggest hits, so that makes about 4 times a year. Going there is also a reason to dress up, find a perfect date and make that evening a celebration. The Opera theatre also holds fancy events like Presidents reception or big celebrations for celebrities or big companies.
So, if you have your suit or evening dress with you, then for one night I do suggest you shine those shoes and go for a night at the opera! Worth going as the dancers and directors are often from abroad and top class. But be sure to book ahead as the most popular shows sell out fast.
