EYJA is Icelandic for “island” and the creators of this restaurant have tried to bring part of nature to their place — from the interior design to the menu, of course. You can smell the forest 🙂 So if you are looking for a calm, non-trivial yet Scandinavian experience, this is the place to be.
EYJA serves excellent restaurant food at cafe prices. You can find smørres, Danish open-face sourdough bread with various toppings, great meat, interesting tacos with parsnip cream and cep mushroom ice cream — yes, mushroom ice cream with pine needle “crisps”. So if this didn’t spark an interest in you, I do not know what will.
They treat their food with respect and season it with only salt and pepper to bring out maximum natural flavor. The drink menu offers some rare flavors and they serve espresso with hot water separately so you can make your Americano according to your own preference. On Saturdays, they do a restaurant experience brunch as well as daily offers on the weekdays.
