When I need to get my thoughts together, I go for a walk to Litukka Allotment Garden, which truly is a hidden gem.
Litukka Allotment Garden is located in the districts of Kaleva and Kauppi which are within walking distance from the center. It is a little community of local people who takes care of their own little plots and garden cottages. I have a tiny dream to own my very own plot there one day!
Take a nice walk through the blooming little gardens and watch the gardeners at their work. It is important to respect the landowner’s privacy and not to enter any of the yards and stay on the paths. The little paths are named after fruits and berries which makes the place even cuter! At the end of the summer, you might get lucky and find some leftover apples and plums to eat from the boxes from the paths.
Fun fact: Finland’s first ever allotment garden, Niihama Allotment Garden, can be found in Tampere!
